Our Mission

The mission of the Youth Empowerment Shelter (YES) is to provide youth in crisis a place of physical and emotional safety while assisting them to build positive relationships and develop their individual potentials.

February. Time for hearts and flowers. But really, the celebration of love is much more than a frenzy of romantic gestures. Valentine’s Day was named for a saint, a priest, whose expression of love was not romantical, but sacrificial. The legend explains that St. Valentine was martyred for marrying Christian couples, which had been outlawed by Rome. He was also known for restoring the sight of a blind girl through the miracle of prayer. Love is a powerful force, and so is desire. When young hearts are confused by Hollywood versions of relationships, it can end up badly. Here at the YES House we are all about promoting healthy relationships. If you have any teens in your sphere of influence, please join us in setting the record straight; love is much more than an attraction. Relationships are an investment, so please invest in youth with the truth. Building community, one teen at a time.

WELCOME TO "THE YES HOUSE!"  If you're between the ages of 10 and 18 (here before your 18th birthday), and need a safe place to hang out, come on by - for the day, or night, or a few months. A crowd is always welcome - as long as safety is maintained.

There are 3 qualifying criteria to stay:
1 - you want to be here
2 - you are a  safe person for our household
3 - your parent or guardian or whomever says it's okay for you to stay.

COVID-19 Awareness!
We live in precarious times.  The Y.E.S. house personnel are keeping a close watch on developments and CDC and Oregon Health Authority recommendations regarding avoidance of the spread of COVID-19 in our community.  We are taking every precaution to guard against contracting or spreading the virus.  With that said, we want to assure you that, at this point (February 23rd), we are open and currently receiving youth in need of shelter.  Of course, our first priority is to guard the safety of those already in the house, so great caution will be exercised in receiving new residents. If you know of someone (or you ARE someone) who needs a safe place to stay, phone us (541 705-4777) and make arrangements to meet with our reception staff.  We will give consideration at that time to our circumstances
and to what your needs are.
If you would just like to talk to someone for some insight or encouragement you can call and talk with
Gary (541) 993-4279, or Linda (541) 993-0542.
